
Consumer Cellular Port Out Process
The port-out process for Consumer Cellular allows customers to keep their existing phone number when switching to another carrier. It involves verifying the customer’s account information and ensuring the account is active before the transfer can take place. This process is designed to protect the customer’s privacy and prevent unauthorized transfers. Once approved by both carriers, the number transfer is usually completed quickly and seamlessly, minimizing any disruption in service.
🔹 1. Gather Required Info
To port your Consumer Cellular number to another carrier, you’ll need:
Account Number:
Found by logging in to your Consumer Cellular account at consumercellular.com, or
By calling Consumer Cellular Customer Support at (888) 345-5509.Port-Out PIN (Account Security PIN):
Contact Consumer Cellular at (888) 345-5509 and request your Port-Out PIN (sometimes called your Account Security Code).
This is required by your new carrier to complete the transfer.Billing ZIP Code:
Use the ZIP associated with your Consumer Cellular billing address.
🔹 2. Keep the Account Active
Your Consumer Cellular line must be active for the number to transfer successfully.
Do not cancel your service before the port completes—your number could be lost.
🔹 3. Give Info to the New Carrier
Provide your new carrier with:
Consumer Cellular account number
Port-Out PIN
Billing ZIP Code
Your new carrier will send the request to Consumer Cellular to release your number.
🔹 4. Wait for Completion
Wireless-to-wireless ports: typically complete within a few hours.
Landline or VoIP ports: may take 1–2 business days.
There might be a short period where service is unavailable during the transfer.
Once completed, your Consumer Cellular account automatically closes.
🔹 5. Confirm and Stop Auto-Pay
After the port finishes:
Log in to your Consumer Cellular account or call (888) 345-5509 to verify the line is closed.
Disable AutoPay to avoid further billing.
