AT&T Port Out Process

What is the Port Out Process from AT&T

🔹 1. Gather Required Info

To port your AT&T Wireless (Postpaid) number to another carrier, you’ll need:

  • Account Number:
Found on your AT&T bill or by logging in at att.com/my.
You can also call AT&T Customer Care at 1-800-331-0500 to confirm it.

  • Number Transfer PIN:
Dial *PORT (*7678) from your AT&T device and follow the prompts to generate your Number Transfer PIN.
Or log in at att.com/portoutpin to create it online.
The PIN is valid for 4 days.

  • Billing ZIP Code:
Use the ZIP linked to your AT&T billing address.

🔹 2. Keep the Account Active

Your AT&T Wireless line must remain active and paid up during the transfer.
Do not cancel your service before the port completes, or the number may be lost.

🔹 3. Give Info to the New Carrier

Provide the new carrier with:

  • AT&T account number

  • Number Transfer PIN

  • Billing ZIP code

They will submit the port request to AT&T on your behalf.

🔹 4. Wait for Completion

  • Wireless-to-wireless ports: Usually complete within minutes to a few hours.

  • Landline or VoIP ports: Can take 1–3 business days.

  • Once complete, your AT&T service automatically cancels.

🔹 5. Confirm and Disable AutoPay

After the port is successful:

  • Sign in to your AT&T account or call 1-800-331-0500 to confirm the line is closed.

  • Turn off AutoPay if it was active to prevent additional charges.
