Dealer Profit-After-Fees Calculator FAQ's

Why does this separate 'commission' from 'costs' instead of just lumping everything together?

Because revenue and cost get confused fast on a wireless ticket. Carrier commission and activation fees are money coming IN, device cost and processing are money going OUT. Keeping them on separate sides of the ledger is the only way to see if a deal actually made you money or just moved cash around.

What counts as 'other costs paid'?

Anything real you paid out on this specific transaction that isn't the device or card processing — spiffs paid to a rep, a screen protector or case you comped, shipping on a swapped device, etc. Don't dump your whole month's overhead in here; this tool is per-deal, not per-store.

How is profit margin calculated here?

Profit margin = net profit divided by total revenue collected (sale price + carrier commission + activation fee), times 100. If total revenue is zero, the tool shows 0% instead of an error — it won't divide by zero on you.

Can net profit be negative?

Yes, and it should show you when it is. If device cost and other costs paid out exceed everything collected on the deal, you lost money on that transaction — this tool will show a negative net profit and a negative margin so you catch it instead of assuming every activation is a win.
