T-Mobile's MetroPCS prepaid brand has increased the amount of high speed data included with its $40/month plan from 3 GB to 6 GB. The plan also includes unlimited voice and messaging and unlimited 128 kbps throttled data after the first 6 GB is used.
Unfortunately it's not all good news, MetroPCS has cut the high speed data included with its $30 plan from 2 GB to 1 GB. Assuming MetroPCS follows past practices, existing $30 plan users are grandfathered at 2 GB.
With these changes the MetroPCS plan list is:
$30 - unlimited voice and messaging and data with the first 1 GB at high speed. Hotspot is allowed
$40 - unlimited voice and messaging and data with the first 6 GB at high speed. Hotspot is allowed
$50 - unlimited voice and messaging and high speed data. Hotspot is not allowed.
$60 - unlimited voice and messaging and high speed data. Hotspot is allowed. Hotspot data throttled to 128 kbps after 8 GB.
On the $50 and $60 plans data speeds are subject to deprioritization after 32 GB when the network is congested.
MetroPCS also launched three new promotions:
New: Get the LG K20 Plus 32 GB LTE Android phone free (reg $99 each) when you port a number to MetroPCS from a non-T-Mobile based operator. The Samsung Galaxy J3 Prime and LG Aristo are also free to switchers.
