Yesterday, Samsung announced its flagship smartphones for 2017, the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The company said that Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and U.S. Cellular will offer the phones as well as prepaid brands MetroPCS, Cricket Wireless, Straight Talk, Boost and Virgin Mobile. Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are available for pre-orders starting today, March 30, 2017 while launching is announced for April 21, 2017.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ share almost all specs besides display and battery size. Both Galaxy S8 and S8+ feature Infinity Displays with near bezel-less design and are HDR certified; S8 has 5.8-inch Quad HD+ display and a + version 6.2-inch screen. Batteries with wireless and fast charging are 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh, respectively. In addition, phones come with a Bixby, Samsung’s intelligent voice-enabled user interface, Iris and fingerprint scanner, IP68 water and dust resistance, improved Samsung’s apps as Samsung Health and Samsung Knox.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have Octa core 64 bit 10 nm processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage and support for microSD card up to 256GB. Main camera is 12-megapixel while front one with autofocus and face detection is 8-megapixel. Phones run Android 7 Nougat. They use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v 5.0, USB Type-C for connectivity and NFC and MST for payment.
The phones will be offered in Midnight Black, Orchid Gray and Arctic Silver.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Availability
In order to receive free Gear VR, MetroPCS customers need to complete the pre-registration form by April 20, 2017, purchase a Galaxy S8 by May 7, 2017 and upload an image file of a purchase receipt by May 21, 2017. They will receive the gift within 4-6 weeks of verification.
Boost and Virgin Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S8 will be available on April 21, while other providers are yet to reveal details on Galaxy S8’s cost and release.
