Boost Mobile stores to sell Prepaid Broadband and TV
Comcast has agreed to a partnership with Sprints prepaid brand Boost Mobile to sell it's prepaid broadband internet and prepaid TV service Xfinity Prepaid. To start the partnership, Xfinity Prepaid will be offered in 5 states later this year. Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Georgia with plans to expand to all 4400+ Boost Mobile locations by the end of 2017.
The partnership will allow Comcast to penetrate a prepaid market that hasn't been penetrated much by broadband or TV. On the same note it will allow Boost Mobile dealers an opportunity to offer something other than wireless service. This could be a blessing in disguise for Boost Mobile locations, with shrinking margins and low profit margins on handsets many locations have struggled to stay afloat. However this will only be a blessing in disguise if the profit margins are there for the dealers. So it's a wait and see approach for now.
Overall though, this looks like a great move for both Boost Mobile and Comcast. These services should go hand in hand as they do in most postpaid locations like Verizon and AT&T stores. Dealers should be able to capitalize and bring in more traffic into their locations.
